......I HATE THEM.

  1. Dear fellow sufferer. I am sending you my best wishes from NZ. I know the finish line is in sight for you, and I want you to know just how much I am cheering you on today and just how grateful I am to you. I have a month left to finish and submit, and it still seems undoable, but reading your blog has cheered me up so much that I just wanted to say thanks. Please keep in touch about how it all goes post-phd - I think you are a great girl who deserves every success in life!

    1. I got this message in the middle of final-final-absolute-last-stages of writing the PhD. THANK YOU SO MUCH! it was like getting flowers. I shall keep in touch. I am ROOTING FOR YOU, I am behind you 100%, and if I, a lame duck amongst swans (which is how I feel amongst actual proper academics) can do it, even though I hated it so much and found it so hard, YOU CAN DO IT. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, and be nice to yourself. THANKS again!...

  2. I hope all is going well for you in the final few hours of your PhD. It is almost midnight here in NZ on the 30th September and I am off to bed, but I am sending you my best wishes. I know you can do it, one reference and one footnote at a time. You have less than one more day to endure before you are free of that PhD!!! You can do it!!!!
